Gutter Politix Ripped off? Update By Rizzuto 
Thu Aug 14, 2008 - On the left is our cartoon dated March 24th, 2008. On the right, a cartoon discovered by a reader being used on the front page of Lucianne.com. I'm trying to track down the artist, but please note that although this was found on Lucianne.com, Lucianne is not at fault at all for any possible ripoff, she just posted a pre-existing cartoon on her site.What do you think? Update: We tracked down the artist, Brett Noel. His version is dated three months after ours.

oh yes, i think thats pretty clearly a rip off. its a simple enough idea that i could maybe see it being chance but i highly doubt it, its just too much.

I dunno; it appears the general structure of the picture (Obama as the Piper, rats, flute, etc) has been taken, but the point of those items seems to be something different. In the ConPunk version the rats represent people or the general populace (I presume) whereas in this fellow's, the rats represent major networks. How much is too much?

Yeah, you can't copyright a general idea, such as "Obama as Pied Piper." I think it's more of an idea that's easily thought up. The ConPunk cartoon is better quality, though.

I don't know...not only is the concept very similar, but the actual images are nearly identical. The strokes themselves almost look photocopied...
