It's Joe Biden By Rizzuto Sat Aug 23, 2008 - If you hadn't already heard, Obama's choice for veep is Joe Biden. I received this text message at 4:28am Saturday morning. Barack has chosen Senator Joe Biden to be our VP nominee. Watch the first Obama-Biden rally live at 3pm ET on www.BarackObama.com. Spread the word!I have to admit I was pretty startled by the news. Not because I was half conscious in a diner scarfing down a greasy diner cheeseburger and drinking black coffee in an attempt to stave off a hangover this morning, but because I would never have expected an announcement to come at 4:30 in the morning. Perhaps there's a method to Obama's madness, but frankly I just don't see it. Such a late choice means you are sure to miss the newspaper headlines on Saturday morning. Ok, not a huge deal, but you're also going to miss out on internet buzz because it's Saturday and most people aren't scouring the internet for news. The only thing he'll really have is the Sunday morning political programs, which most people find to be as boring as watching paint dry. But like I said, there has to be a reason why Obama would bury the announcement of his own VP choice after all of this suspense. Perhaps it's too nuanced for me to understand, like the reason he didn't wear a lapel pin. Who knows...?
