"I cried my eyelashes off," she said in the bowels of Invesco Field, moments after Obama accepted the nomination for president before an estimated 84,000 people.Let’s face it, if Obama had burped the alphabet into a coffee can for 40 minutes, Oprah would have cried and pronounced him the second coming. The worn out clichés that dribbled out of him at Mile High stadium on Thursday night were really no different than the worn out clichés that dribble out of his mouth almost every time he speaks, all flash and no substance. Was it a good speech? Some would say so. Is a speech going to get this man elected? No. Rich Lowery noted something that was conspicuously absent from Obama’s address last night though: The most striking omission from Obama's speech was anything about his accomplishments (such as they are). Obama doesn't have a substantive record; he has a sensibility and an argument. Both were on flattering display last night.It’s pretty easy to dress up your argument with flowery words and prose. But what the hell has this guy ever done other than give a speech?
