Tue Feb 19, 2008 - It's the real deal this time. Castro has officially stepped down.Excuse me if I'm not all that excited about this, this morning. I rarely wish death upon anyone, but a good clean heart attack would have done the Cuban people much better than this “transfer of power”. I’m not ready to buy into this “Raul as a reformer story just yet. I tend to agree with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's statement from this morning: Replacing one dictator with another, as appears to be the case, isn't the answer to the repression, brutality and fear produced by five decades of Castro And that's certainly what Raul's ascension is, a replacement dictator.
