Shameless Howard Dean Race Baiting By Rizzuto
Thu Feb 28, 2008 - Howard Dean is at it again with his race baiting identity politics. The very same man who boasted “You think the Republican National Committee could get this many people of color in a single room? Only if they had the hotel staff in here” is once again peddling his racist BS.This from the Georgetown Voice: Howard Dean showed up to talk about Black History Month but the focus quickly changed to politics Tuesday night in ICC Auditorium. The Chairman of the Democratic National Committee and former Governor of Vermont contrasted the two parties’ presidential candidates, saying that with a woman and an African-American as the two front-runners, the Democratic field “looks like America,” while the all-white male Republican field “looks like the 1950s and talks like the 1850s.” Right off the top, let me say that the idea that a woman and an African-American in some way looks more like America than a white male is insulting on it’s face. That for some reason the white male is no longer representative of the American fabric is just beyond ignorant. However, I’ll allow this to slide and chalk it up to Dean’s propensity to condescend and pander to his audience. What’s even more infuriating is Dean’s complete lack of understanding of the past, or his belief that his audience is ignorant. Weren’t the Democrats the party of slavery in the 1850’s, while the Republicans were born of the abolitionist movement? What party was Jefferson Davis part of before he became the president of the confederacy? Weren’t Jim Crow laws enacted by Democrat state and local authorities, and enforced by Democrat sheriffs throughout the southern and border states? Wasn’t it the Republican Party that voted 138-34 (80%-20%) for the civil rights act of in 1964 compared to the Democratic Partys 164-96 (63%-37%)? But let’s not allow history to get in the way of a good pander. You’re damned right we’re talking like it’s the 1850’s, we’re still fighting to free individuals, while Howard Dean and his Democratic Party would like us all to be part of a giant American Plantation.
