Obama doesn't care about black people: ignores promise of gulf coast cleanup By Rizzuto Tue Aug 18, 2009 - Helping the rebuilding efforts in the Gulf Coast have gone by the wayside as have most of Obama's campaign promises. This from MSNBC: During the campaign, Obama said he would “keep the broken promises made by President Bush to rebuild New Orleans and the Gulf Coast” and take steps to prevent failures in emergency planning and response seen during Hurricane Katrina in 2005.Gulf Coast revitalization would have been where Obama started if he had any foresight. What better way to get people believing in the government again than to unify behind a cleanup effort for what was considered almost universally to be a disastrous response by the feds? Instead, Obama, Rahm, and David Axelrod decided to exploit the economic downturn and send billions into a money pit of wasteful programs and pet projects. Katrina was one crisis Rahm was apparently more than willing to let go to waste. Opportunity lost...
