Obama: Why What He Said Is Worse Than You Think By Rizzuto Sun Apr 13, 2008 - You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them…And they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. There’s more to what Obama said than appears, something more insulting and patronizing bubbling just under the surface; he’s not just talking about people, he’s talking about principals. It’s one thing for a presidential candidate to personally insult members of the electorate; it’s another completely for him to undermine and dismiss the foundations of our beliefs, Obama managed to do both in a single clip. He has reduced what we hold as our most cherished principals to their lowest forms; belief in the sovereignty of our borders become xenophobia, belief in the sanctity of the second amendment becomes bloodlust, faith becomes irrationality. Even worse, he seems to believe that we hold these principals because of some sort of knee jerk emotional attachment which is the result of economic circumstances. For someone who peddles hope as the cornerstone of his campaign, he seems to believe the worst about us. As Obama exposed his elitism, his liberal apologists in the media ran to his defense and in doing so, exposed their own elitism. First they denied he even said what he said, dismissing the idea that Obama could even make such a gaffe. Then, in a baffling reverse of their previous statements defended what he said as if to say, “So what? He’s right.” CNN’s Jack Cafferty even went as far as to compare Middle Americans to disenfranchised Muslims joining the ranks of Al Qaeda. So which was it? Is Obama being misquoted? Or is he just stating the obvious? His defenders would like you to believe both but I find that hard to swallow, especially considering Obama’s pattern of patronizing statements and his audience, wealthy San Francisco liberals, the vanguard of leftist elitism.

I don’t know what’s more disgusting, Obama’s snobbish attitude or the media defending it.
