Jello Biafra: A Huge Fan of State Control of Media By Rizzuto Tue May 27, 2008 - Looks like Jello has done a complete 180 on his “anti-censorship” views. In a response to Michael Savage’s use of California Uber Allis upon hearing about the malignant tumor residing in Ted Kennedy’s skull, he had this to say: I haven’t read the details yet, but I’m aware of what Michael Savage did. Obviously he took my song way the hell out of context and did it deliberately…Well Jello, you’ve really come full circle on this haven’t you? From advocate of free speech, to advocate of free speech reform. Don’t worry people, the government is going to make your speech more free if you’d just let them. Apparently the irony is lost on Jello. I have an idea, how about a fairness doctrine for Jello’s “spoken word” performances. Perhaps Karl Rove can take some time to provide a counterbalance to Biafra’s inane conspiratorial ramblings. If there was only a law… h/t Deceiver via Hotair

Great find, Rizzuto. Good old Jello really likes to stick his nose into politics that shouldn't involve him so much. It is his signature to try to speak on behalf of punk rock like a lot of folks. I remember the story of a bunch of Oakland and San Fran punks beating him up in the early eighties, quite bad, because they feel like they shouldn't have some guy bashing their country and trying to preach politics down everyones throats. The guy should speak for himself and himself only and not act like punk rock is a giant platform. I wouldn't have a problem with a lot of what he does but it seems like so much focuses on speaking on behalf of punk.

Even I don't think the Fairness Doctrine should be rammed down the public's collective throat. Plus, how petulant do you have to be in order to whine about the Fairness Doctrine in response to having your song played by a guy whose views you disagree with? It isn't his precious little feelings he's so concerned with, it's the public who's being let down! |
